Eating salad is not ideal for weight loss

Health conscious people often resolve to eating salads.  They believe that it has fewer calorie thus will help them to get the body that they are dreaming off.  However, salads do not work that way.

Manuel Villacort, who is the national media spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association also a certified specialist is sports dietetics (CSSD) says salads is the worse choice because it could either be so high in calorie or has a remarkably low calorie.

There are two scenarios that affect the intake of calorie when one is eating salad.  Each one will result to gaining more weight in the process.

First scenario, most of the salad now comes with some nuts, creamy dressing, cheese, bacon, dried fruit, avocado, croutons, and seeds on top of the lettuce.  These junks could accumulate without one even knowing about it.  By the time that the individual is fully satisfied, that person have eaten more calories, which, double that of cheeseburger and fries.

The second scenario involve common mistake that an individual creates without them knowing it.  By the time that they become aware of it, it is already too late.  An individual who want to lose some weight sticks to their diet of eating purely a bowl of pure lettuce with a handful of unembellished chicken breast.  While this works, very well with some people, some people tend to give up easily since this diet is too bland and plain for them, to make it simple – the diet is not for them.  Although the individual, who practices such method knows that the add-on foods in many salad bars include a lot of calories and has eliminate eating them.  The time will come when they could not longer control themselves. They are already malnourished and  tired of eating just plain lettuce.  Such a person would end up eating candies to have some alternative on what they are eating.

Villacorta claimed that the solution to have and keep a slim-figure is easier than what people thinks.   One should make the salad as the starter of any meal and should not be the whole meal itself.  When preparing a salad, have some extra fresh vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, or any fruits and vegetable that one prepare.  Also, include a sandwich or soup.  This makes  a complete meal that can fully energize a person.

One could also add some protein on the salad.  Protein heightens the metabolism.  Chicken, salmon, tofu, or cottage cheese is an excellent source of protein.
