As we all be aware of the fact that secondhand smoking exposure is directly linked up with some diseases like ear problems, asthma, breathing issues in children, sudden infant death syndrome etc. Also the emerging evidence regarding this have found that there somewhere may a correlation between secondhand smoke exposure and a less physical issue of children like their behavior.

The entire study was published this week at the JournalPediatrics, which stated that the children were generally growing up in home with parents. With the sequence to the fact it also stated that the parents who smoked at home on regular basics, were more likely involved with their children behavioral problems including ADHD or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, than those children who were growing in a smoke free environment.

In this case, researcher Hillel Alpert, ScM at the Harvard School of Public Health stated “From the entire study we have found that the children who are usually exposed to the secondhand smoke at home are more likely chance to increase odds of 50 percent including two or three common neurobehavioral disorders.”

Throughout the period of entire study the researchers of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had made a telephone survey of families that included more than 55,358 under age children of 12 years. Though, within the study they also have included 6 percent of children who were exposed to second hand smoke at their home.

This telephone survey queried the patients while a teacher and doctor had noticed any kind of ADHD or any other kind of behavioral issue in the child, whether or not the child had received any kind of counseling if anyone smoked in the home.

The entire result had determined that near about 8 percent of children were suffering from learning disabilities, while near about 6 percent were suffering from ADHD and 4 percent were from behavioral issues. Even, they had taken into account few factors also like the parent’s educational as well as economic status. Which showed that the children who lived at home with smokers, might even suffer from at least two behavioral related conditions.
