Less Sodium Intake Leads To Heart Diseases

After being aware of the harms done by salt intake we often cut down on salts suddenly. But after a recent study researchers have claimed that suddenly cutting down on salts can lead to heart attack. Sudden reduction of salt intake increase cholesterol level and develop clots in blood that in turn boost up the chances of heart diseases.
Before the study the NHS declared that excess sodium or salt results in increased blood pressure level. To aware people Govt. has done many campaigns spreading information about the bad effects of salt. But after the study researchers have claimed that stopping the salt intake can also lead to the same fatal result. It can harm the heart diseases patients most.

A chain of 67 studies observed nearly 40,000 people and concluded that people who had reduced sodium intake suddenly suffered from 2.5 per cent growth in cholesterol level and 7 per cent growth in fat content in body which help in developing blood clots.

Dr. Niels Graudal was found saying that the sudden change in salt intake forces the kidneys to give out a protein called renin and a hormone called aldosterone. The increased level of renin and aldosterone in blood directly boost up the blood pressure level. He has also mentioned that the increased cholesterol level can also lead to cardiovascular death. He has advised that people who are concern about their health and want to cut down the cholesterol level and blood pressure level they should put full stop to smoking and drinking and concentrate on weight loss instead of simply reducing sodium intake.

The study result has concluded that although there is no proved link between the reduction of sodium intake and the reduction of risk of heart diseases, there is possibility the reducing sodium intake can lead to heart diseases.

The study result was appeared in the American Journal of Hypertension.
