The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine found cancer causing toxin in one of China’s popular dairy firm products. The carcinogenic content referred above, namely the Aflatoxin gets generated naturally from some specific types of fungies. According to the national standard in 1 Kg of milk 0.5 micrograms of the aforementioned toxin is allowed while the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine found 1.2 microgram of aflatoxin in 1 Kg of milk produced by Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd. But late on Friday they confirmed that in other lots of Mengniu’s dairy products the aflatoxin levels are within the national standard.

Along with Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd. General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine’s test included Yili Industrial Group Co, Bright Dairy & Food Co, Beijing Sangyuan Foods Co and Nestle SA. According to the experts aflatoxin can contaminate crops in the storage or during the harvest session or after the session. Then the infected crops either directly or indirectly break into food chain by animals. They have also mentioned that the abovementioned toxin was originated from cows due to their consumption of musty food. Then the toxin gets spread.
